CIP cleaning: alkaline and acid detergents and disinfectants for circuits

CIP cleaning (cleaning in place) cleans tanks, pipes and heat exchangers without dismantling them, by circulating the solutions through the installation. Seventeen products with their dosage, temperature and circulation time exactly as stated on the technical data sheet.

HOW TO CHOOSE

A CIP cycle: water, alkali, acid and disinfection

A complete CIP cycle starts with a pre-rinse with water, continues with an alkaline detergent that removes organic matter (fat, protein), a rinse, an acid phase that removes limescale from the water and the residues left by the alkalis, and ends with disinfection and the final rinse. Everything circulates through the installation, which is why the products are non-foaming or controlled-foam.

Each product has its own concentration, temperature and time range. The alkalis in this range and Clor NF Pro must not be used on aluminium, according to their data sheets. For disinfecting the circuit there are two disinfectants with a registration number for the food industry: Clor NF Pro and Oxa Per.

Frequently asked questions about CIP cleaning

What is CIP cleaning?

Cleaning in place: cleaning tanks, pipes and equipment without dismantling them, by circulating water and cleaning and disinfecting solutions through the installation. The usual cycle is pre-rinse, alkaline, rinse, acid, rinse, disinfection and final rinse.

Which alkaline detergent should I use for CIP?

Alcalino Pro 1 or Alcalino Pro 6 at 0.5 to 5%, at 45–70 °C for 20–45 minutes, after a pre-rinse with water. For single-phase cleaning, Alcalino Pro 3 at 2 to 6% at 60–70 °C.

What is the acid phase for?

It removes limescale from water hardness, mineral deposits and the residues left by alkaline detergents. Nitracip Pro, based on nitric acid, is circulated at 0.5–1% for 15–20 minutes at 40–60 °C; Acid Pro, at 1 to 3%.

How is a CIP circuit disinfected?

With a disinfectant registered for the food industry: Clor NF Pro (reg. no. 18-20/40-09617-HA), at 2 to 8% at 20–60 °C for 5–15 minutes, or Oxa Per (reg. no. 17-20/40-05521-HA), at 1% for about 15 minutes at 20–50 °C. In both cases, rinse with water afterwards.

What if there is biofilm in the circuits?

The enzymatic treatment combines Ten Cip at 0.2–0.5% with Enzim Pro at 0.05%, recirculated for 20–60 minutes at 40–55 °C, followed by a water rinse.

What should I do if foam forms?

The products in this range are non-foaming or controlled-foam. If the process generates foam, Defoamer Pro is added as an additive at 0.5 to 2%.

Do you supply industry and distributors?

Yes. We have been manufacturing at our plant in Vic since 1990, in 25 kg packs and 1,000 to 1,400 kg containers depending on the product. See the distribution programme.

What is your CIP installation like?

Tell us which circuits you clean (tanks, pasteurisers, pipes), what soiling you have, the water hardness and whether there are aluminium parts: we will propose the cycle with product, dosage and factory price.
