Lubricants for packaging conveyor belts: which to choose and how to dose it
Packaging conveyor belts need a film of lubricant so that bottles, cans and Tetra Briks slide along without jamming. We compare our two conveyor belt lubricants, with the dose and application method from their technical data sheets, and look at how the belt fits into the cleaning plan.

The belt belongs in the cleaning plan too
Belts and their rollers are in contact with the product or the container and build up soil in joints and guides, one of the places where biofilm forms. That is why they must appear in the cleaning and disinfection plan, with their method, product and frequency, and among the verification points: Insta Check Pro detects biofilm on accessible surfaces in approximately one minute.
In plants with a Listeria risk, belts are usually included in environmental sampling: see which disinfectants have been tested against Listeria on the Listeria page.
Frequently asked questions
Which lubricant should I use for Tetra Brik conveyor belts?
Lubrisil, which its data sheet indicates for Tetra Brik conveyor belts in the dairy, beverage and wine industries, applied by drip feed diluted to 5–20 g/l depending on belt speed.
What dose of Lubri Pro is used?
Between 0.2 and 0.4%, depending on water hardness, chain wear and the type of container.
Does water hardness affect the dose?
For Lubri Pro, yes: the dose is adjusted according to water hardness. Lubrisil is dosed according to belt speed, regardless of water hardness.
Are they food-grade lubricants?
Their data sheets do not state NSF H1 certification. If your audit requires it, ask us before choosing.
How is the lubricant applied?
Diluted in water and applied continuously to the belt. For Lubrisil, the data sheet recommends automatic drip-feed dosing.
Which belts do you need to lubricate?
Tell us which containers you convey, the belt speed and the water hardness: we will propose a lubricant, dose and factory price.
