The EU Ecolabel: the European Union's only official ecolabel
The EU Ecolabel is the European Union's ecolabel, governed by Regulation (EC) No 66/2010. Unlike private seals or self-declarations ("ecological", "natural", "green"), it is awarded by a competent body designated by each Member State after verifying that the product meets technical criteria published by the European Commission for its product group, and the licence is subject to periodic control.
For cleaning products, those criteria require, among other things, cleaning performance demonstrated in testing, limited aquatic toxicity, biodegradability of surfactants, exclusion or restriction of substances such as phosphates, EDTA or NTA, limits on packaging per dose and clear dosing instructions on the label. In other words: an EU Ecolabel product has to clean and comply. That is why it is the label recognised in public procurement specifications and in the purchasing policies of hotel chains.
Instaquim (Detervic, S.A.) is the direct holder of four EU Ecolabel licences as a manufacturer of cleaning products in Vic (Barcelona), and the entire Eco line is formulated and manufactured at its own plant.

Professional automatic dishwashing

- Eco Dish — detergent for soft water (up to 15 °fH (French degrees)), 5 g/l
- Eco Dish + — detergent for hard and very hard water (up to 65 °fH), 3-6 g/l
- Eco Rinse — rinse aid, 0.3-0.5 g/l

Manual dishwashing

- Eco Top — concentrated manual dishwashing detergent: 4 g per 5 l of water (lightly soiled dishes) to 8 g per 5 l (heavily soiled dishes)
Soak the dishes rather than leaving the tap running: the label asks you to dose and save water, not to make more foam.
Laundry: detergent and softener

Any product bearing the EU Ecolabel flower must be traceable in the European Commission's public catalogue. We encourage you to check: it is the difference between a certification and a promise.
- Go to the official EU Ecolabel product catalogue (ECAT).
- Under "Text search", type Detervic or one of the licence numbers: ES-CAT/019/014, ES-CAT/020/026, ES-CAT/038/012 or ES-CAT/039/002.

Where the EU Ecolabel stops being an extra and becomes a requirement
Public procurement
Directive 2014/24/EU on public procurement (Article 43, labels) and its national transpositions allow Type I ecolabels to be required in tender specifications and accepted as proof. School canteens, hospitals, care homes and public building cleaning: the licence number is attached to the bid.
Hotels and foodservice

How do I check that a product really carries the EU Ecolabel?
By searching for the licence number or the licence holder in the European Commission's official ECAT catalogue. The number also appears on the label and in the technical data sheet. If an "ecological" product is not listed there, it does not carry the EU Ecolabel.
Do they clean as well as conventional products?
Yes. The criteria for each group include a cleaning performance test that the product must pass in order to be certified. The practical difference lies in respecting the recommended dosage and temperature, which is precisely what reduces the environmental impact.
Are they suitable for tenders and green public procurement?
Yes. The EU Ecolabel is a Type I ecolabel (ISO 14024) and Directive 2014/24/EU on public procurement (Article 43, labels) and its national transpositions recognise it as a means of proof of the environmental characteristics required in tender specifications. Attach the licence number, the technical data sheet and the safety data sheet of each product.
What exactly does the certification guarantee?
That a competent body has verified compliance with the European Commission's criteria for that product group: limited aquatic toxicity, biodegradability of surfactants, exclusion or restriction of substances such as phosphates, EDTA or NTA, limits on packaging per dose, dosing information and demonstrated cleaning performance. In Instaquim's case, the competent body is the competent body in Catalonia.
Can I run the whole kitchen or the whole laundry with Ecolabel products?
Yes. The range covers the complete cycle of a professional kitchen (multipurpose cleaner, degreaser, floors, glass, bathrooms, automatic dishwashing with detergent and rinse aid, and manual dishwashing) and the laundry wash cycle (detergent and softener). It is the simplest way to demonstrate a fully certified cleaning protocol.
In which formats are they supplied?
Professional formats: 5 kg jerrycans, 1 kg bottles and 10 or 12 kg bag-in-box depending on the reference. Bag-in-box is the usual format for automatic dosing in dishwashing and laundry. See the technical data table on this page.
