What multispeed means

A multispeed washing machine can operate at different spin speeds (typically 400, 600, 800, 1,000 rpm). The programme selects the appropriate speed based on the load type declared by the user or detected automatically.

This matters because each fabric calls for a different treatment: delicates need a gentle spin, cotton handles high speeds, and synthetics require intermediate speeds.

Advantages over fixed-speed machines

Less wear on delicate garments
Faster drying thanks to a high spin on cotton
Better perceived end result for the user
Energy savings on delicate cycles
Scope for commercial differentiation
Lower noise and vibration on low-speed cycles

Implications for dosing

Delicate cycles with low spin speeds require:

  • Reduced detergent dose (less agitation)
  • Lower fabric softener load
  • Enzymatic detergent that works at low temperatures (Biogold)
  • No bleach, to avoid damaging the fabric
